Congratulations on the project. It has been a massive success. I remember initially finding your little blog waaay back (Probably 10 months or so ago!) from a last.fm link you posted. I saw you loved moya and I was hooked. Keep it up. Happy Birthday as well. No doubt you'll enjoy yourself (*Remembers some of the pictures from when you posted a few picturs of yourself a little wasted*)

Thanks and congratulations Charlatantric! While there are tons more, I appreciate the 8-bit revolution, blue states, cities, gunther, headlights, moving mountains, my dad vs yours, robin guthrie, the american dollar, and the bullet conscience posts. Awesome community and musical knowledge and appreciation!

Absolutely wonderful. I keep raving about you/this in my journal, as I think you've noticed a few times by now.. haha..

I enjoy all the wonderful random little albums I get from you.. music is the best gift ever, period.

I'm listening to World's End Girlfriend at this moment, The Lie Lay Land. And before that was Bitcrush, heh.

Hey,

This is Trinarian on Metafilter. I tried emailing you, but the MeFi addy bounced back. I Really enjoyed that post. I've a question I've been floating around that few seem able to really answer.

A few years ago I found a love for the Verve. I worked my way back to their early stuff, culminating with finding their first E.P. at Amoeba Music a few years back. I love it. That and their first L.P., A Storm in Heaven, are incredible. Beautiful, lush, serene. The best examples would be Man Called Sun off the E.P. and Already There and Beautiful Mind off the L.P. That all ended by around 1994 when Richard Ashcroft decided to sing ballads and the other shoegaze/dreampop bands drifted away. Anyway... that early Verve and other Shoegaze stuff and post-rock seem to share a lot of roots. In your dichotomy, you'd call it a mix of zone with highwire.

I've spent two years trying to accurately trace down the origins of this sound and haven't found anything besides some Loveless from My Bloody Valentine and some of Slowdive. Any thoughts or suggestions? Can you recommend any of the newer post-rock outfits with a slightly more psychedelic edge that don't have the crash at the ends and still maintains a certain dreaminess?

Good postings, I'll be following your blog.

I'm actually pretty hard-pressed to answer any of your questions. I actually find that trip-hop is a much better genre to scour for that psychedelic/dreamy thing, but I probably couldn't help because I don't listen to any psych. I'd say check out Green Milk From the Planet Orange. As for the evolution of shoegaze, I'm no music history buff, but bands like Ride and Lush do the trick for me.
